Camino de Santiago

The main point of reference for the cultural and historical wealth Muxía is Pilgrimage of Our Lady of Sierra, most important cultural phenomenon throughout the year in our town and one of the biggest festivals held in Galicia. The pilgrimage, true symbiosis of religious and secular events, revolves around the story of Sanctuary by boat from Virxe and pilgrimages to Muxía by “Jubilee Way of Santiago Muxía“.

Such pilgrimages are a real source of attraction for people throughout the year, not only from all parts of Galicia, but also the rest of Spain, and elsewhere.

This Pilgrim's Way, has its origin in the city Santiago de Compostela and goal at Cape Finisterre and the Sanctuary of the Virgen de la Barca in Muxia. Almost since the discovery of the tomb of Apostle Santiago, some pilgrims decided to extend their trip to Costa da Morte, it was for the ancients the westernmost tip of Europe, the final leg of a route marked in the sky by the Milky Way.
