The story of the house begins when the head of the family , Elías Rodríguez González,
inherits (from founder Evaristo) the family house in which
he grew with his seven brothers and goes on with the
agrarian work he learned from his parents. Not long after
taking over the running of the exploitation, serious illness
overtakes him and forces them to move to Muxía where they
have no choice but to carve a new niche for themselves.
The years go by and the family progresses. Lita´s good
cooking and her children´s diligence enable them to open
the bar Winpe and, later, the restaurant O Coral, two
referents of the hotel and catering business in Muxia.
The illness affects Elías until it overcomes him in
2003, before his greatest wish could come true: go back
to Frixe and convert the family´s old house into a of
rural tourism house.
Today, six years later and after 18 months of works, his
idea has finally seen the light of day. His children´s
vocation for business and, above all, his son-in-law
Manuel´s, have turned the big house from 1900 into a
sweet refuge of 10 rooms that combine the comfort of
hydrotherapy with the authentic flavour of an agrarian
dwelling erected early last century.
We have named the rooms (in their honour) after founder
Evaristo and his wife Manuela, as well as each of their
eight children: Elias and Lita (heirs of the house),
Jaime, Lelo, Jesús, Concha, María, Arosita, and Sanita.
Finally, the name of the last room was reserved for the
creators of the project: Alvaro and Chus.
